Mission Areas
Technology and techniques used to detect, neutralize, or detect and neutralize enemy mines and the use of available resources to deny the enemy the opportunity to employ mines.
Countermine (CM):
Technologies used to counter weapons fabricated or emplaced in an unconventional manner incorporating destructive, lethal, noxious, pyrotechnic, or incendiary chemicals.
Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED):
Any particular course or mode of action taken by qualified explosive ordnance disposal personnel to detect and/or locate, access, identify, triage, diagnose, stabilize, render safe or neutralize, recover, exploit, and dispose of ordnance, explosives, or any hazardous material associated with an explosive ordnance disposal incident.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD):
Response actions, including investigation, removal actions and remedial actions to address the explosives safety, human health, or environmental risks presented by unexploded ordnance (UXO), discarded military munitions, or munitions constituents, or to support a determination that no removal or remedial action is required.
Actions taken to remove UXO hazards to maintain the continued safe and effective long-term use and viability of the national test and training ranges.
Munitions Response/Range Sustainment (MR/RS):
The activities related to the furnishing of education, training, and technical assistance with respect to the detection and clearance of land mines and other explosive remnants of war.
Humanitarian Demining (HD):
The detection and identification of trace chemicals, precursors, and components of homemade explosives used to build improvised explosive devices.
