About DoD UXOCOE
Membership
The Principal Members to the UXOCOE consist of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Sustainment (USD(A&S)); the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (ASD(R&E)); the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict (ASD(SO/LIC)); the Director of Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E); the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Military Department Secretariats.
Leadership
DoD Directive 5101.13E, 2nd March 2006 (certified current as of 1 November 2011), designates the Secretary of the Army as the UXOCOE Executive Agent (EA). His EA Designee is the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment, with operationsal control to Commander, US Army Material Command. The day-to-day management of UXOCOE Staff, located at Fort Belvoir, VA.
Mission Area
The UXOCOE is the DoD's technology "clearinghouse" for its explosive hazards detection and neutralization program in order to acquire technologies in a cost-effective and efficient manner through joint collaboration and leveraging of investment dollars. The UXOCOE is responsible for a broad range of mission areas, each specifically tailored to identify new technologies that will help our warfighters.
